Installing the Shopify App

Get started with Solixync directly in your Shopify admin. This guide covers installation, permissions, and initial setup.

Installation

Step 1: Install from Shopify App Store

Visit the Shopify App Store
Search for "Solixync" or "product photo optimizer"
Click Add app
Review the app listing and click Install

Step 2: Approve Permissions

Solixync requires these permissions to function:

Permission	Why It's Needed
Read products	Browse your product catalog for selection
Write products	Update product images with optimized versions
Write files	Upload optimized images to Shopify Files

Click Install app to approve these permissions.

Step 3: Complete Onboarding

After installation, you'll see the onboarding wizard:

Welcome (Step 1)

Introduction to Solixync and what it does.

Default Platforms (Step 2)

Select which platforms to optimize for by default:

Shopify (always selected) - Optimized for your store
Amazon - 85% product fill, pure white background
Etsy - Square format, clean presentation
eBay - Gallery-ready square images
Pinterest - Vertical pins for better engagement

Tip: Select all platforms you sell on. You can always change this later.

Auto-Optimization (Step 3)

Choose whether to automatically process images:

Auto-optimize new products - Process images when you add new products
Auto-optimize new images - Process when you add images to existing products

Both can be enabled, disabled, or mixed.

Update Behavior (Step 4)

Choose how optimized images are applied to your Shopify store:

Option	What Happens
Replace	Existing images are replaced with optimized versions
Add	Optimized images are added alongside existing ones
Files only	Images are uploaded to Shopify Files, not attached to products

Complete (Step 5)

Review your settings and start using the app!

Skipping Onboarding

You can skip the wizard and configure settings later:

Click Skip during any step
Go to Settings anytime to configure
Settings page has all the same options

After Installation

Dashboard

Your home screen shows:

Current plan - Free or Unlimited
Usage this month - Images processed / limit
Recent jobs - Your latest processing history
Quick actions - Process products, view jobs

Troubleshooting Installation

App Won't Install?

Ensure you have admin permissions in Shopify
Check your store plan supports apps
Try a different browser or clear cache

Permissions Declined?

If you accidentally declined permissions:

Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Apps
Find Solixync and click Manage
Click Re-authorize to approve permissions

Onboarding Stuck?

Refresh the page
Clear browser cache
Click Skip and configure via Settings instead
